The Role
We’re looking for a motivated Business Development Representative (BDR) to help grow our sales pipeline by identifying, reaching out to, and qualifying potential clients. You’ll be on the front lines of our growth, generating leads, creating meaningful conversations, and opening doors through targeted outreach (email + LinkedIn).
This role is perfect for someone who has proven experience in lead generation, strong research and strategic prospecting skills, and thrives on building high-quality pipelines. The ideal candidate is ready to take ownership of driving business growth, with experience in sectors such as retail, finance, government, health, or aged care, and knowledge of the Australian market is considered highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation and Prospecting
Research and identify potential clients and business opportunities aligned with company objectives
Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads using various research tools and databases
Develop target account lists and prioritize outreach based on ideal customer profiles
Track and analyze lead generation metrics to optimize strategies
Outreach and Engagement
Craft compelling and personalized email campaigns to engage prospects
Execute LinkedIn outreach strategies, including connection requests, InMails, and engagement with prospect content
Conduct initial discovery conversations to understand prospect needs and pain points
Schedule qualified meetings for senior sales team members.
Follow up consistently with prospects through multi-touch campaigns
Relationship Building
Build and nurture relationships with potential clients through regular communication
Maintain accurate records of all interactions in CRM system
Respond promptly to prospect inquiries and maintain professional communication
Participate in relevant online communities and industry discussions to expand network
Collaboration and Reporting
Work closely with sales and marketing teams to align on messaging and targeting
Provide feedback on lead quality and campaign performance
Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly targets for lead generation and meetings booked
Prepare regular reports on outreach activities, conversion rates, and pipeline development
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in sales, business development, or lead generation (B2B preferred).
Strong written communication skills for crafting clear, compelling outreach messages.
Comfortable using LinkedIn, email sequencing tools, and CRM systems (Copper, HubSpot, or similar).
Hands-on experience with sales automation tools (e.g., Aimfox, Apollo, Outreach, HubSpot Sequences, or similar).
Research-oriented with the ability to identify and target the right accounts.
Resilient and persistent, comfortable handling rejection while maintaining professionalism.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple outreach campaigns at once.
Skills
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft persuasive messages
Strong research and analytical skills to identify and qualify prospects
Proficiency with CRM systems (Copper, HubSpot, or similar)
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Results-oriented mindset with focus on meeting targets and KPIs
Skilled in efficient analysis and reporting to track outreach performance, optimize lead generation, and provide actionable insights.
Knowledge of the sectors we work in within the Australian market, including public sector, health and aged care, education, environment/sustainability, community and social impact, as well as corporate, retail, and finance.
Technical Requirements
Advanced proficiency in LinkedIn for professional networking and outreach
Experience with email outreach tools (Apollo, Mailchimp, Outreach.io, or similar)
Comfortable with data analysis tools and spreadsheets
Basic understanding of sales funnels and conversion optimization
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Prior experience selling into retail, finance, government, health, or aged care sectors.
Knowledge of the Australian market and ability to tailor outreach strategies to local business practices.
Understanding of lead qualification frameworks (e.g., BANT, MEDDIC, or lead scoring).
Familiarity with modern sales methodologies (e.g., Challenger, SPIN, Solution Selling).
Previous experience working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
Comfortable using LinkedIn Sales Navigator and CRM platforms (Copper, HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.).
Success Metrics
Number of qualified leads generated per month
Email open rates, response rates, and conversion rates
LinkedIn connection acceptance rates and engagement metrics
Number of qualified meetings scheduled
Pipeline contribution and eventual revenue impact
Quality of leads as measured by sales team feedback
