Local Peoples is seeking enthusiastic and talented Senior Database Technical Lead in the ACT, to join our team as embedded members with our prestigious Government client. The Expert Mainframe Database Technical Lead engages in scoping, sourcing, and optimising database environments for analysis. They apply innovative analysis techniques and model results and scenarios, while maintaining the integrity of the system.
Expert Mainframe Database Technical Leads are proficient with system databases, data elements, application software, and other tool sets to develop enterprise data solutions. They use their extensive experience and an expert level of proficiency across a number of contemporary ICT systems, servers, coding languages and databases.
Expert Mainframe Database Technical Lead exercise a considerable degree of independence and undertake a leadership role, with work performed under the general guidance of the leadership team. Some out of hours work may be required, to complete scheduled work or assist with complex incidents. These hours can be substituted for time off in lieu (TOIL).

Roles & Responsibilities:
The Expert Mainframe Database Technical Lead is responsible for a range of RDBMS that are the responsibility of the Database Operations team, provide the following:
Advice and guidance to the DB Operations team and to Service Operations Branch management on a broad range of database subject matter.
Support for the migration of the SAP workloads from Oracle to Db2 on Z/OS.
Support for the rollout of the IBM Mainframe tool set for maintenance and monitoring of the DB2 Z/OS environment.
Planning and preparation for software currency on the Db2 Z/OS platform.
Advice and support in the implementation of SAP recommendations for Db2 Z/OS.
Production support, including deep analysis of Db2 Z/OS performance issues.
Consultation with SAP Operations, applications teams and other technical areas.
Consultation with Vendor representatives including IBM and SAP on best practices for interoperability.
Advice and implementation of system parameter changes to support both legacy and SAP database systems.
A deep understanding of MCA, OVA, CSP and Centrelink applications and assistance to other teams in problem identification and resolution.
Management of the change process using Service Manager; Cost recovery for effort against project deliverables.
Development of team capabilities and documentation.
Guidance, coaching and mentoring of other staff, particularly with respect to technical specialties.
Development and implementation of deliverables outlined in the teamwork plans.
Assistance with resource planning and identifying staff training needs.
Research and analysis into inefficiencies and the provision of recommendations on optimal practices to colleagues and management.
Notification or impact assessment, or other information to stakeholders or management, as appropriate.
Develop and maintain the release schedule, balancing technical dependencies, business requirements, and stakeholder engagement
Experience managing risks and interdependencies associated with releases and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies
Facilitate releases into key environments in consultation with the relevant stakeholders
Work with developers to understand impacts of code merges
Conduct release readiness reviews and quality assurance checks
Ensure stability of the platform post release and manage post-incident reviews, including any applicable documentation
Uplift the quality of releases, alongside technical and test leads
Essential Skills & Experience:
5+ years of Mainframe Database Administration experience.
5+ years of experience with IBM Db2 tools (Recovery expert, clone tool etc.).
5+ years of experience with monitoring and diagnostics using Omegamon and query monitor.
Experience with rolling out maintenance for Db2 across mainframe systems.
Experience with z/OS interfaces (ISPF, REXX, JCL etc.).
Understanding of z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E etc.).
