Job Title: Information Architect
This role is a full-time opportunity to join Local Peoples team permanently, with your first project supporting the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) on the National Criminal Intelligence System (NCIS). NCIS is a critical national capability that connects data across law enforcement agencies to provide a unified view of criminal activity and support intelligence-led policing across Australia.
You will play a key role in designing and delivering data architecture solutions that enable the ingestion, transformation, and preparation of complex data sets to support operational and strategic outcomes.
About the Project
You will work on the National Criminal Intelligence System (NCIS), a joint initiative between ACIC, Australian police agencies, and the Department of Home Affairs.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders to design and implement scalable data models, ingestion pipelines, and transformation processes. You will provide both strategic and technical advice on data engineering patterns within a large and complex program environment.
This is an onsite role based in Canberra, working within standard business hours.
Responsibilities
Work with stakeholders to design, validate, and deliver complex data models
Design and maintain data ingestion and transformation workflows
Develop and implement data schemas to support business and operational needs
Design and validate data quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability
Provide strategic and technical advice on data architecture and engineering patterns
Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions
Ensure data solutions align with organisational standards, governance, and security requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement of data architecture practices and frameworks
Qualifications
Proven experience working as an Information Architect in large, complex, data-driven programs
Strong experience designing data models for transformation and analytics purposes
Demonstrated experience with data ingestion and transformation pipelines
Solid understanding of data architecture principles, frameworks, and best practices
Experience working with diverse and complex data sources
Essential Criteria
Demonstrated experience working as an Information Architect in complex data-driven environments
Experience collaborating with business stakeholders to design data ingestion and transformation solutions
Proven ability to develop data models that support complex business outcomes
Desirable Criteria
Experience working with graph-style data models
Exposure to law enforcement, intelligence, or highly regulated environments
Residency and Clearance
Must be an Australian Citizen
Must be able to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance

Canberra (ACT) – onsite role
Standard business hours: Monday to Friday (07:00 – 19:00 AEST)
Up to 40 hours per week
